1. Purpose of StrengthMap

Rothermel StrengthMap ("StrengthMap") is an educational strength assessment and training analysis application developed and operated by Rothermel Strength LLC.

StrengthMap uses information entered by users to generate estimated lifting performance, strength classifications, comparative standards, strength balance evaluations, and visual representations of strength development.

The purpose of StrengthMap is to help individuals better understand their strength performance, evaluate relationships between different exercises, track changes over time, and identify potential areas for training improvement.

StrengthMap is an educational and informational tool. It is not a medical device, clinical assessment, diagnostic instrument, or substitute for individualized professional evaluation.

2. Estimated Strength and Performance Calculations

StrengthMap uses mathematical formulas, reference standards, and analytical models to estimate strength performance.

Estimated one-repetition maximums (e1RM) represent calculated approximations rather than guaranteed lifting capacities.

Actual performance can vary based on factors including:

  • Exercise technique and range of motion

  • Training experience and skill

  • Fatigue and recovery

  • Equipment and exercise variations

  • Training environment

  • Individual biomechanics and physical characteristics

  • Testing procedures and performance conditions

An estimated maximum should not be interpreted as a recommendation to attempt that weight.

Users should not attempt maximal or near-maximal lifting solely because StrengthMap indicates a particular estimated capacity.

3. Strength Standards and Classifications

StrengthMap provides strength classifications that compare entered lifting performances against selected reference standards.

These classifications are based on the models and assumptions used within the application.

Classifications such as Trained, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite, and World Class are comparative categories within StrengthMap's model.

They are not guarantees of athletic performance, competitive achievement, physical fitness, or general health.

Absolute and Age-Adjusted standards provide different perspectives on lifting performance. Age-adjusted calculations are modeled comparisons and should not be interpreted as individualized predictions of physical capability.

Strength classifications can be influenced by differences in exercise technique, competition rules, equipment, training background, and other factors.

4. Strength Balance and Anatomical Visualizations

StrengthMap evaluates relationships between selected exercises to identify areas of relative strength and potential imbalance.

These relationships reflect training-oriented reference ratios and model assumptions.

A result indicating that an exercise is relatively stronger or weaker does not necessarily establish a muscular deficiency, injury risk, movement dysfunction, or medical condition.

Likewise, StrengthMap's anatomical visualizations and Strength Web are graphical representations of calculated performance relationships.

These visualizations do not directly measure muscle size, muscle activation, muscular health, injury susceptibility, or individual anatomical function.

Users should interpret strength balance results within the broader context of their training goals, exercise experience, technique, and physical circumstances.

Training decisions should not be based solely on a StrengthMap balance classification or anatomical visualization.

5. Physical Activity and Injury Risks

Resistance training, athletic exercise, and maximal or near-maximal lifting involve inherent physical risks.

These risks may include muscular strains, joint injuries, falls, equipment-related injuries, and other potentially serious adverse events.

Users are responsible for evaluating whether exercises and training intensities are appropriate for their abilities and circumstances.

Appropriate safety practices may include:

  • Using suitable equipment and training environments

  • Practicing proper lifting techniques

  • Progressing training loads appropriately

  • Using qualified supervision or spotters when appropriate

  • Avoiding attempts that exceed current capabilities

  • Considering fatigue, recovery, and existing injuries

StrengthMap cannot determine whether a particular exercise, training load, or activity is safe for an individual.

Rothermel Strength LLC does not guarantee that following any information presented through StrengthMap will prevent injuries or produce particular training outcomes.

6. Medical and Professional Guidance

StrengthMap does not provide medical advice, medical diagnoses, rehabilitation prescriptions, or individualized clinical treatment recommendations.

Nothing presented through StrengthMap should replace guidance from a licensed healthcare professional when such guidance is appropriate.

Individuals with existing injuries, medical conditions, concerning symptoms, or uncertainty about their ability to participate in strenuous physical activity should consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before beginning or modifying their exercise programs.

Individuals seeking individualized exercise instruction or programming should consider working with an appropriately qualified strength and conditioning professional.

If serious or emergency symptoms occur during exercise, stop the activity and seek appropriate medical attention.

7. Accuracy of User-Submitted Information

StrengthMap relies on information provided by users.

Incorrect or inconsistent entries may produce inaccurate or misleading results.

Users should ensure that exercise selections, bodyweight, lifted weights, repetitions, and other assessment information accurately reflect the performance being evaluated.

Results may not be directly comparable when exercises differ in technique, range of motion, equipment, or performance standards.

StrengthMap may update its models, reference standards, and calculation methods as the application develops.

Such updates may affect classifications or comparisons generated from similar inputs.

8. Eligibility and Age Limitations

StrengthMap assessments and strength classification models are intended for individuals 18 years of age or older.

The application is not designed to provide strength classifications for children or adolescents.

This age limitation applies specifically to StrengthMap's assessment and classification functionality.

Separate coaching services offered by Rothermel Strength LLC may be available to minors in appropriate circumstances with parental or legal guardian involvement, applicable consent, and relevant coaching agreements.

9. Saved Results and Public Sharing

StrengthMap allows registered users to save assessments and voluntarily create public links to assessment results, graphs, and profiles.

Shared information may include strength classifications, performance estimates, assessment details, and other information displayed through the applicable sharing feature.

Individuals who possess a valid public sharing link may be able to access that information without signing into StrengthMap.

Users should review shared information carefully before distributing links.

10. No Guarantee of Results

StrengthMap is intended to provide information that may assist users in evaluating their training performance.

It does not guarantee improvements in strength, muscular development, body composition, athletic performance, or other fitness outcomes.

Training results depend on numerous individual factors, including programming, consistency, recovery, nutrition, health, and training experience.

Use of StrengthMap does not establish an individualized coaching relationship with Rothermel Strength LLC.

Any separately purchased coaching services are governed by their applicable agreements.

11. Acceptance and Related Policies

By using StrengthMap, users acknowledge that its outputs are estimates and educational comparisons subject to the limitations described above.

Use of the application is also subject to the applicable Terms of Use and Privacy Policy of Rothermel Strength LLC.

Nothing in this disclaimer removes legal rights or protections that cannot lawfully be waived or restricted.
